DESCRIPTION:Join Us for our Weekly Meeting!  Dr. Eric Dent of the FGCU Newton Ethical Leadership Initiative will discss a newly published book. \nDr. Eric B. Dent is a consultant to Fortune 500\, government\, and non-profit organizations as well as an invited speaker to national audiences. Prior to earning his Ph.D.\, Dr. Dent served as a corporate vice president in the financial services industry. He began his career as a computer scientist with IBM. He is committed to an interdisciplinary research agenda and has publications in journals of leadership\, consulting\, philosophy\, workplace spirituality\, history\, communications\, psychology\, education\, and others. He has received many honors\, such as the Volunteer Service Award from the Governor of North Carolina. He is a member of the Academy of Management and is a Board Certified Executive Coach. \nThe Newton Ethical Leadership Initiative (NELI) promotes leadership and ethical action throughout Southwest Florida and beyond in a variety of ways to include: \n\nThe annual FGCU Rist Family Foundation High School Ethics Case Competition;\nThe annual Distinguished Speaker in Ethics Series;\nThe annual Celebrating Ethical Leadership in Southwest Florida event featuring the three organizational finalists for the Uncommon Friends Foundation Business Ethics Award;\nFGCU student participation in multiple national and regional ethics case competitions during the year;\nAnd more!\n\n

DESCRIPTION:Join Us for our Weekly Meeting!  Our Veterans Day Program will feature Madison Mitchell who will discuss United Way’s programs for veterans. \nMadison Mitchell serves as Interim Chief Operating Officer for United Way of Lee\, Hendry\, and Glades\, where she helps lead programs and partnerships addressing critical community needs throughout Southwest Florida. Since joining United Way in 2016\, she has held progressively senior leadership roles\, overseeing initiatives including fund distribution\, United Way Houses\, Community Partnership Schools\, WeCare\, Gifts in Kind and other community impact programs. A longtime Southwest Florida resident\, Mitchell earned her bachelor’s degree in communication from Florida Gulf Coast University and has been actively involved in numerous community and professional organizations.

DESCRIPTION:Join Us for our Weekly Meeting!  Captiva Island continues to make steady progress in its recovery from Hurricanes Ian\, Helene\, and Milton. While much of the island’s infrastructure\, beaches\, and utilities have been restored\, work continues on rebuilding homes\, businesses\, and several landmark resorts. Many shops\, restaurants\, and accommodations have reopened\, welcoming visitors back while maintaining the island’s distinctive charm and natural beauty. Ongoing beach restoration\, resiliency improvements\, and careful redevelopment are helping ensure Captiva remains one of Southwest Florida’s most treasured coastal destinations for years to come. \nOur Speaker: \nSandra Stilwell Youngquist is the CEO and owner of Stilwell Enterprises & Restaurant Group\, which operates seven restaurants\, inns\, and three shopping centers across Captiva Island\, Fort Myers\, and Boca Grande. A self-employed entrepreneur since age 17\, she has built a dynamic portfolio in hospitality and real estate.\nShe serves on the Board of Directors for Gulf Coast Business Bank\, Chapters Health System—the world’s largest nonprofit hospice provider—and The Horizon Foundation\, where she chairs the Edison Awards committee. Her civic involvement includes serving on the Captiva Community Panel\, Gulfshore Life Magazine’s Advisory Editorial Board\, and the Advisory Board for Florida Gulf Coast University’s Resort and Hospitality Management program.\nSandra co-chairs the Planning & Capacity Branch of Resilient Lee\, a regional task force formed after Hurricane Ian to develop resiliency strategies and secure $1.2 billion in federal HUD funding.\nA committed community leader\, she actively serves on the boards of organizations such as Hope Hospice\, Habitat for Humanity\, Harry Chapin Food Bank\, Junior Achievement of SWFL\, Pace Center for Girls\, Lee Health Foundation\, and SWFL Children’s Charities.\nShe is also the author of Resilient Spirit\, a book on entrepreneurship available through Amazon\, Barnes & Noble\, and Books-A-Million.
