DESCRIPTION:Join Us for our Weekly Meeting!  Captiva Island continues to make steady progress in its recovery from Hurricanes Ian\, Helene\, and Milton. While much of the island’s infrastructure\, beaches\, and utilities have been restored\, work continues on rebuilding homes\, businesses\, and several landmark resorts. Many shops\, restaurants\, and accommodations have reopened\, welcoming visitors back while maintaining the island’s distinctive charm and natural beauty. Ongoing beach restoration\, resiliency improvements\, and careful redevelopment are helping ensure Captiva remains one of Southwest Florida’s most treasured coastal destinations for years to come. \nOur Speaker: \nSandra Stilwell Youngquist is the CEO and owner of Stilwell Enterprises & Restaurant Group\, which operates seven restaurants\, inns\, and three shopping centers across Captiva Island\, Fort Myers\, and Boca Grande. A self-employed entrepreneur since age 17\, she has built a dynamic portfolio in hospitality and real estate.\nShe serves on the Board of Directors for Gulf Coast Business Bank\, Chapters Health System—the world’s largest nonprofit hospice provider—and The Horizon Foundation\, where she chairs the Edison Awards committee. Her civic involvement includes serving on the Captiva Community Panel\, Gulfshore Life Magazine’s Advisory Editorial Board\, and the Advisory Board for Florida Gulf Coast University’s Resort and Hospitality Management program.\nSandra co-chairs the Planning & Capacity Branch of Resilient Lee\, a regional task force formed after Hurricane Ian to develop resiliency strategies and secure $1.2 billion in federal HUD funding.\nA committed community leader\, she actively serves on the boards of organizations such as Hope Hospice\, Habitat for Humanity\, Harry Chapin Food Bank\, Junior Achievement of SWFL\, Pace Center for Girls\, Lee Health Foundation\, and SWFL Children’s Charities.\nShe is also the author of Resilient Spirit\, a book on entrepreneurship available through Amazon\, Barnes & Noble\, and Books-A-Million.

SUMMARY:Weekly Lunch Meeting: Sports Tourism as an Economic Driver
DESCRIPTION:Join Us for our Weekly Meeting! Learn how sports tourism drives our local economy from two of the top sports organizations in Southwest Florida – The Mighty Mussels and Fort Myers Tip-Off.  Our speakers will be Linda McNabb and Merry Coffman. \nLinda McNabb is Senior Advisor to the Executive Staff and Senior Vice President of Revenue for the Fort Myers Mighty Mussels. A Cleveland native\, she began her professional baseball career with the Fort Myers Miracle and Minnesota Twins Spring Training in 1994\, advancing from director of sales to vice president and president of Miracle Professional Baseball. She later spent 10 seasons as senior vice president of sales for the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp\, helping guide the organization through its transition from the Jacksonville Suns and its move from Double-A to Triple-A baseball. McNabb returned to Fort Myers in January 2026\, bringing more than three decades of experience in professional baseball\, sales\, fan engagement and community partnerships. In 2001\, she received the prestigious Rawlings Female Executive of the Year Award in recognition of her leadership in Minor League Baseball. \nMerry Coffman is Executive Director of Community Impact for the Fort Myers Tip-Off\, an Intersport event that brings nationally televised NCAA men’s and women’s basketball to Southwest Florida each Thanksgiving week. A Michigan native\, Coffman moved to Fort Myers in 2005 and has built a career spanning tourism\, marketing\, education and community engagement. Before joining the Fort Myers Tip-Off\, she held leadership roles with Pure Florida and the Edison & Ford Winter Estates. Coffman has also served numerous community and tourism organizations\, including VISIT FLORIDA\, the River District Alliance and the City of Palms Classic. Her honors include Gulfshore Business’ 40 Under 40 recognition\, the Alliance for the Arts’ Angel of the Arts Award and the West Region Robotics Volunteer Award. \n   \n

DESCRIPTION:Join Us for our Weekly Meeting! We will hear all about the exciting success of the FGCU Women’s Basketball Team from Head Coach\, Raina Harmon.  FGCU finished Harmon’s first season 16–16 overall and 11–7 in the ASUN\, advancing to the second round of the WNIT. \nRaina Harmon is head coach of the Florida Gulf Coast University women’s basketball program. Named the third head coach in program history in April 2025\, Harmon arrived at FGCU after eight seasons as an assistant coach and director of recruiting at the University of Iowa. During her tenure\, the Hawkeyes compiled a 208–63 record\, won five Big Ten championships\, earned eight NCAA Tournament berths and made consecutive appearances in the national championship game. She also helped recruit and develop several WNBA draft selections\, including national player of the year Caitlin Clark. A Detroit native and former Central Michigan University player\, Harmon previously coached at Central Michigan and served as director of women’s basketball operations at the University of Michigan. DESCRIPTION:Join Us for our Weekly Meeting! We will hear all about the benefits of adjunct teaching from Dr. Bill Reynolds and Dr. John Roth of FGCU. \nDr. Bill Reynolds is director of the Lucas Center for Faculty Development and a professor of social work at Florida Gulf Coast University. In his leadership role\, he supports faculty through professional-development programs designed to advance excellence\, innovation and student-centered teaching. His professional and scholarly interests include teaching and learning\, faculty development\, educational philosophy\, ethics and student-faculty partnerships. Reynolds earned both his doctorate and Master of Social Service degree in social work from Bryn Mawr College\, a master’s degree in secondary education from Temple University and a bachelor’s degree in English from Lafayette College. \nDr. John Roth is coordinator of adjunct faculty at Florida Gulf Coast University’s Lucas Center for Faculty Development and a certified adjunct instructor in the Department of Communication and Philosophy. He teaches religious studies courses\, including Contemporary World Religions and Religion and Politics in America. Roth previously served several terms as a Lucas Faculty Fellow\, researching the experiences of adjunct faculty and identifying ways universities can strengthen their support and professional development. He co-authored the peer-reviewed article “The Forgotten Adjunct in the Academy: Can Department Chairs Help?” and co-hosts The Adjunct Files\, an FGCU podcast that provides adjunct instructors with practical resources\, professional-development opportunities and a forum for sharing their experiences.
