SUMMARY:Weekly Lunch Meeting: Sports Tourism as an Economic Driver
DESCRIPTION:Join Us for our Weekly Meeting! Learn how sports tourism drives our local economy from two of the top sports organizations in Southwest Florida – The Mighty Mussels and Fort Myers Tip-Off.  Our speakers will be Linda McNabb and Merry Coffman. \nLinda McNabb is Senior Advisor to the Executive Staff and Senior Vice President of Revenue for the Fort Myers Mighty Mussels. A Cleveland native\, she began her professional baseball career with the Fort Myers Miracle and Minnesota Twins Spring Training in 1994\, advancing from director of sales to vice president and president of Miracle Professional Baseball. She later spent 10 seasons as senior vice president of sales for the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp\, helping guide the organization through its transition from the Jacksonville Suns and its move from Double-A to Triple-A baseball. McNabb returned to Fort Myers in January 2026\, bringing more than three decades of experience in professional baseball\, sales\, fan engagement and community partnerships. In 2001\, she received the prestigious Rawlings Female Executive of the Year Award in recognition of her leadership in Minor League Baseball. \nMerry Coffman is Executive Director of Community Impact for the Fort Myers Tip-Off\, an Intersport event that brings nationally televised NCAA men’s and women’s basketball to Southwest Florida each Thanksgiving week. A Michigan native\, Coffman moved to Fort Myers in 2005 and has built a career spanning tourism\, marketing\, education and community engagement. Before joining the Fort Myers Tip-Off\, she held leadership roles with Pure Florida and the Edison & Ford Winter Estates. Coffman has also served numerous community and tourism organizations\, including VISIT FLORIDA\, the River District Alliance and the City of Palms Classic. Her honors include Gulfshore Business’ 40 Under 40 recognition\, the Alliance for the Arts’ Angel of the Arts Award and the West Region Robotics Volunteer Award. \n   \n

SUMMARY:Weekly Lunch Meeting: FGCU Women's Basketball
DESCRIPTION:Join Us for our Weekly Meeting! We will hear all about the exciting success of the FGCU Women’s Basketball Team from Head Coach\, Raina Harmon.  FGCU finished Harmon’s first season 16–16 overall and 11–7 in the ASUN\, advancing to the second round of the WNIT. \nRaina Harmon is head coach of the Florida Gulf Coast University women’s basketball program. Named the third head coach in program history in April 2025\, Harmon arrived at FGCU after eight seasons as an assistant coach and director of recruiting at the University of Iowa. During her tenure\, the Hawkeyes compiled a 208–63 record\, won five Big Ten championships\, earned eight NCAA Tournament berths and made consecutive appearances in the national championship game. She also helped recruit and develop several WNBA draft selections\, including national player of the year Caitlin Clark. A Detroit native and former Central Michigan University player\, Harmon previously coached at Central Michigan and served as director of women’s basketball operations at the University of Michigan. DESCRIPTION:Join Us for our Weekly Meeting!  It’s our annual update from meteorologist Allyson Rae and the Gulf Coast weather team.  Find out what’s ahead for hurricane season. \nAllyson Rae has served as Chief Meteorologist for Gulf Coast News since October 2017. She also previously worked for Gulf Coast News from 2010 to 2014. \nAllyson returned to Southwest Florida after working as morning meteorologist at WUSA9\, the CBS affiliate in Washington\, D.C. for three years. While in D.C.\, she covered major weather events\, including the historic Blizzard of 2016. \nDespite the excitement of forecasting in the nation’s capital\, Allyson was eager to return to the Gulf Coast\, the place she proudly calls home. \nEarlier in her career\, Allyson worked in the tornado-prone southern Gulf States\, honing her skills at WSFA in Montgomery\, Alabama\, and KNOE in Monroe\, Louisiana. \nA Pittsburgh native\, Allyson earned her degree in Meteorology from Pennsylvania State University and holds the prestigious Certified Broadcast Meteorologist Seal from the American Meteorological Society. \nAllyson is married to her husband\, Dan\, and together they share their home with two beloved dogs\, Yoda and Layla.

DESCRIPTION:Join Us for our Weekly Meeting!  It’s Football with Joe Rider!! \nA deep passion for football sparked Joe Rider’s interest in an avocation that has lasted 35 years and inspired countless others. \nThe Mattoon\, Ill.\, native attended Reitz Memorial High School in Evansville\, Ind.\, where he was a four-year letterman in football. After high school\, Rider attended Bradley University\, where he played an additional four years of football and received his bachelor’s degree in business administration. After college\, he continued his passion for football\, playing three years in the Continental Football League. \nSince 1970\, Rider has been a contest official\, and has officiated games in high school\, college\, the Arena Football League and the NFL. As a high school official\, he has officiated more than 300 football games and more than 120 basketball games. Rider has also been a part of numerous FHSAA playoff crews and has officiated two state finals. \nHe is currently an active FHSAA football official in his 35th year\, and primarily works local freshman and junior varsity football games. Rider also serves as a replay official for the Atlantic Coast Conference. \nHe is a co-founder of the Royal Palm Football Officials Association in Fort Myers\, and has served as the president for the association\, as well as the South Gulf Football Officials Association. In 2005\, Rider received a certificate from the FHSAA commemorating his more than 35 years of service as a contest official.

DESCRIPTION:Join Us for our Weekly Meeting!  Learn about the great things Calusa Waterkeeper does for SWFL!  Our speakers will be Jennifer Walker and Chuck Avery. \nCalusa Waterkeeper\, Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to the protection of the Caloosahatchee River & Estuary\, Lake Okeechobee\, Nicodemus Slough\, Charlotte Harbor\, Estero Bay\, the near-shore waters of Lee County\, and their watersheds\, through education and promotion of responsible use and enjoyment by all people. \nJennifer Walker\nFundraising and Donor Relations \nJennifer has a background in fundraising\, membership and development. She has a Bachelor’s degree in both Business and French from William Jewell College. A Detroit native\, Jennifer has lived in Florida for the past twenty years. She is an avid baseball fan\, especially of her team\, the Detroit Tigers. She enjoys traveling\, especially to attend Tiger’s games. She is excited to be joining the Calusa Waterkeeper team\, as she cares deeply about the water quality in Florida. She is a proud homeowner in a neighborhood along the river\, where she enjoys walking and spending time in her yard. \nChuck Avery\nDirector \nAs a construction executive\, Chuck lived and worked where great rivers\, the Colorado\, Mississippi\, and the Nile\, had major impacts on peoples lives. Now retired\, he kayaks the Estero Bay\, Spring Creek\, and the Gulf. A member of numerous environmental organizations\, he co-founded his community Eco Club in order to get residents aware and involved in local issues.
