With giant accomplishments come giant rewards.
So it is that the winners of the annual Rotary Cup golf tournament are awarded the hulking majesty of the Rotary Cup itself — 41 inches and 14 pounds of metal and finished wood signifying excellence on the course and the keeping of tradition.
The first Rotary Cup tournament was held in 1934, and Rotary members and their friends have kept coming back to test themselves and each other. The tournament has gone through various forms and changes over the decades, with the current format and trophy emerging in 2011.
Since then, each foursome to have won has had their names engraved on the cup — including Bruce Giannetti, John Dolan, Bob Quinlin and Maxwell Thompson, who won back-to-back tournaments in 2014 and 2015. But the real winners are the local charities who benefit from the thousands of dollars the event has raised for community members in need. View photos from last year’s Rotary Cup.
The Rotary Cup was reborn and has become one of the greatest golf and charitable events in Southwest Florida. Now, you have the chance to make history and have your name engraved on the Cup while helping local charities at the same time.
