About Our Club

Founded over 100 years ago on April 1, 1922, The Rotary Club of Fort Myers has been an enduring force within the community. With a membership exceeding 100 individuals, we proudly hold the distinction of being the oldest Rotary Club in Southwest Florida. Our club includes many of the area’s prominent professionals and community leaders, and today, it encompasses a diverse group of men and women from various sectors throughout the region.

Rotary is a leadership organization composed of local business, professional and civic leaders who are united in providing humanitarian service locally and throughout the world, embracing the highest ethical standards to build goodwill and peace.

The Rotary Club of Fort Myers has a rich history of service including its first major project in 1922 with the planting of Royal Palms on McGregor Boulevard. In recent years, we’ve dedicated our efforts to numerous local community 501(c)3 needs. Through our local trust fund, the Rotary Club of Fort Myers distributes more than $100,000 for many causes every fiscal year. The Club played a significant role in relief for Haiti and contributed more than $20,000 for shelter through Shelter Box, which has become one of the largest projects in Rotary International history.

Rotary International is comprised of 1.4, and growing, million neighbors, friends, and community leaders who come together to create positive, lasting change in our communities and around the world.

Our differing occupations, cultures, and countries give us a unique perspective. Our shared passion for service helps us accomplish the remarkable.

Rotary Clubs within Rotary International have been making history and bringing our world closer together for over 100 years. Since forming in 1905, we’ve taken on some of the world’s toughest challenges and helped a wide range of international and service organizations—from the UN to Easter Seals—get started.

Our impact starts with our members—people who work tirelessly with their clubs to solve some of our communities’ toughest challenges. Their efforts are supported by Rotary International, our member association, and The Rotary Foundation, which turns generous donations into grants that fund the work of our members and partners around the world. Rotary is led by our members—responsible leaders who help to carry forward our organization’s mission and values in their elected roles.

We have identified specific causes to target to maximize our local and global impact. At the same time, we understand that each community has its own unique needs and concerns. Through our network of resources and partners, we help clubs focus their service efforts in promoting peace, fighting disease, providing clean water, saving mothers and children, supporting education, and growing local economies.
